FORMER SPURS STAR COMES IN DEFENCE OF BALE

A former Spurs forward Dimitar Berbatov has spoken out in defence of Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale. The Bulgarian famed, for his excellent first touches and ball control, opines that Madridstas have not accorded Bale the legendary status he deserves at the club.

The former Spurs striker feels Bale has been treated poorly despite his efforts. He added that he would love for the Welshman to move to England with Manchester United. He feels Bale even when fit and productive is overlooked by Coach Zinedine Zidane.

Bale regularly gets booed by the fans, who seem to always forget the contributions of the player. Since his 2013 move, Bale has always been criticized for various reasons; not adapting quickly to the La Liga life, his passion for golf, his fitness records, his relationship with his managers, amongst others.

Berbatov said the way the fans treat footballers can make them see negative things in their game as they are human beings as well. He advised Bale to exit Madrid if he is not getting what he deserves, adding that United would not be a bad option. He said Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba are facing similar situations due to their status and huge transfer fee, with fans projecting their expectations on them.

In addition, Berbatov asked Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen if he is ready to join Real Madrid. The demands of Madrid are heavy and with the rebuilding it would be instant pressure from day one.

Madrid are looking to sign the Danish star in the winter window, even though Zidane would have preferred Pogba as per reports. Berbatov wants the Spurs man to weigh his options and expectations before agreeing to the move, citing Bale and Hazard as examples.
